What year are you in and what are you studying?
Third ish year of criminology, sadly no minor in this program. But hopefully will be going to law soon. (Fariha’s note: She’s in law now!)
What’s one thing you’re incredibly passionate about?
Fighting for peoples rights! And making riddles, codes, and scavenger hunts.
How long have you been debating for?
1 year.
What led you to try debate for the first time?
Once I got to university I wanted to join clubs but since Covid put everything online, I just sat alone all the time. When classes went back into person I knew I had to join, since it would be fun to grow my skills and meet new people.
What do you love most about UADS?
The community we’ve created and participate in!
What’s one of your favourite UADS memories?
At fall open when there was close to 20 people in one small hotel room! It was so warm in there and you were stumbling over shoes and people at every turn.
Using one word, what’s a topic you could forever debate about?
Law
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to new debaters?
You’re held over the Darvaza gas crater and will only be safely released if you can sing all the lyrics to a song correctly. What is that song?
Even though it can be a competitive environment, make sure to still have fun.
